Loughborough University is to be the accrediting partner for the new University College, Peterborough. The link was unveiled last week as plans for UCP, revealed earlier this month in The THES, were launched formally. The institution will admit its first 170 students in October, and expects to have 11,000 by the year 2001. The project has won a Pounds 600,000 government grant for a library-resource centre. It is estimated thatthe university will generate an income of around Pounds 100 million per year and provide 2,000 jobs when fully operational.
