Honorary degrees

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD American playwright Arthur Miller has received an honorary degree of doctor of letters. Arthur Miller is the university's 6th Cameron Mackintosh visiting professor of contemporary theatre.

In recognition of his contribution to the development of professional legal vocational education, Leonard Hoffman, Lord of appeal in ordinary, has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws.

DLitt: Zo Wanamaker, actress; Richard Briers, actor; Stuart Hall, professor of sociology at the Open University.

DSc: David Weatherall, Regius professor of medicine at Oxford University; Geoffrey Howson, emeritus professor of mathematical curriculum studies at Southampton University; T. H. Collins, former head of bread section at Chorleywood.
