ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS IN IRELAND. Gordon Beveridge, vice chancellor of Queen's University of Belfast has been awarded an honorary fellowship.

ROYAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING. John McCanny, professor of microelectronic engineering at Queen's University of Belfast, has been elected a fellow of engineering. He has also been elected senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Inc, United States.
