UCAS The Universities and Colleges Admissions Services has appointed Anthony McClaran, former head of academic services and development at the service, to a new post as deputy chief executive from September 9.

HOLBORN COLLEGE Cedric Bell, principal lecturer in law at the University of Central Lancashire, has been appointed head of professional and postgraduate studies at the college.

ROFFEY PARK MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE Mariana Funes, a cognitive psychologist specialising in personal development, has been appointed assistant director.

BRITISH INSTITUTE OF INNKEEPING Claire Wilson, formerly with the research and marketing section of publishers William Reed, has been appointed to take on responsibility for implementation of national and Scottish vocational qualifications in licensed retailing.

PENWITH COLLEGE Richard Andruszko, former vice principal, has been appointed principal and chief executive; John Matthews, former assistant principal, has been appointed vice principal.

HIGHBURY COLLEGE, PORTSMOUTH Karen Woods, head of news at the Ocean Radio Group, has joined the college's board of governors for a three-year term from September 1.

ST JOHN'S COLLEGE, DURHAM Geoffrey Stevenson, mime artist and communicator, has been appointed the first director of the centre for Christian communication.
