QUEEN MARGARET COLLEGE, EDINBURGH. Dr Derek Doyle, fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners and an expert in the field of palliative care, has been appointed to the governing body of the college.

WEST MIDLANDS ARTS

Brian Fender, chief executive of HEFCE, has joined the board of West Midlands Arts, the Regional Arts Board.

GUILDFORD SCHOOL OF ACTING

Gordon McDougall, former artistic director of the Oxford Playhouse Company and the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Canada, has been appointed principal of GSA.

EASTERN ARTS BOARD

Lou Stein, founder and former artistic director of the Gate Theatre, London and member of the BBC Drama Directors' Course team, has been appointed chief executive of the Eastern Arts Board.
