Laurie Taylor Column

February 22, 2002

Dear Mr/Ms/Doctor/Professor.

Thank you for returning your application form for the Media and Cultural Studies Conference to be held at the University of Poppleton from March 25-.

A single room (R2365) has been reserved for you for one/two nights in the Mother Theresa Hall of Residence. Keys should be collected from the Porter in "D" Block upon arrival and returned before 7.30am to the Porter in "F" Block (annexe entrance) on the morning of your departure.

The room is fitted with a standard student bed, built-in wardrobe, bedside table and Anglepoise lamp. It also enjoys an en suite toilet and washbasin with towels (one) and complementary soap tablet.

Please do not attempt to open any of the windows in your room as this may disrupt the air-conditioning system in the entire block. In the event of a fire please leave all your belongings in your room and report immediately to the concourse in the Monsanto Biology Building.

Coffee and tea-making facilities are normally available at the end of the long corridor in "G" Block.

I am enclosing a pack of meal tickets for the conference. (We regret that staffing difficulties make it impossible this year to offer the traditional vegetarian option, but double portions of vegetables will be available at no extra charge.) The Grand Conference Dinner will be held on the evening of March 26 in Dining Hall "C". There will be a complementary pre-dinner glass of wine available for all Full Price Attendees in the Psychology Laboratory.

The dinner menu is as follows:
Soup of the Day
Chicken Supreme with Broccoli Spears and Dauphinoise potatoes
Choice of English Cheese
or Tiramisu

Delegates at the dinner will be welcomed by the Deputy Assistant Finance Officer and musical entertainment during the meal will be provided by the university's newly formed baroque quartet.

Please note that there are no disabled facilities available in Mother Theresa College.

I look forward to seeing you on the 25/26/ March.

Yours sincerely, W. J. Cantaloupe (Conference Chairperson)
