What a bunch of amateurs

Andrew Morgan laments “the continuing scandal that students are asked to pay £3,000 a term to be taught by amateur staff lacking any significant training in the theory or practice of teaching, learning and assessment” (Letters, 19 September). That puts Socrates, Abelard and all the other great teachers of previous centuries in their place, then.
