Too many chiefs

Lecturers' union Natfhe rightly questions the duplication at the head of the merged London Metropolitan University (News in brief, THES , January 23). Will Roderick Floud, formerly of Guildhall University, retain his £130,000 salary as president and, if not, will Brian Roper, formerly of North London University, be awarded that amount as vice-chancellor - bringing his salary to nearly £300,000?
