Standards response

In response to Liz Allen's opinion article on the professional standards framework (May 12) to meet the principles of flexibility, breadth and inclusiveness that people throughout the sector wanted, we deliberately kept the framework non-prescriptive.

UK teaching standards are already good. We all hope the framework will help to make them even better.
