Nothing like a dame

You have to feel a twinge of sympathy for Dame Julia Higgins. Although she has been president of the British Association and deputy rector of Imperial College, The Times Higher couldn’t quite believe a woman could possibly chair a major research council and added an “n” to her first name to turn her into a male (On the move, June 8).
