The amount of publicly available climate change information is a positive development for the Kyoto Protocol and for whatever eventually succeeds it ("The naive optimist", THES, August 24).

For those interested in reducing their own greenhouse gas emissions, Aubrey Mayer and colleagues have compiled a list of websites dealing with individual "carbon calculators" at www.gci.org.uk/Letters/Juliet.pdf

Also check out a publicly funded initiative in Australia called Cool Communities at www.greenhouse.gov.au/coolcommunities/index.html
