Letter: In brief 2

February 8, 2002

Terry Eagleton's appointment to a chair at the University of Manchester gives the Northwest a little bit of Oxbridge chutzpah ("St Aldate's to Old Trafford", THES , January 18).

If Eagleton was so keen to get back to his working-class roots, perhaps he would join his real "home" university: Salford. Or perhaps we are not good enough after the ivory towers of academia down south?
