Was it an ironic statement that the illustration for the article on university leaders featured no women?
If so, the same irony made its way into the article - only one woman's name appeared in the long list of men ready to acknowledge their own achievements. Perhaps such male brilliance is the reason for the healthy state of the higher education sector in the UK.
This is, of course, an ironic statement.
