Blinding debate

September 2, 2005

It is becoming quite a game to scan an article by Simon Blackburn to spot the gratuitous gibe at at the UK or US governments ("Face it, maybe you are a camel", August 26).

It is a pity that a leading philosopher should think that he can assume that his readers are all of one mind on the issues of the day, or perhaps he thinks there is only one view any right-minded person can hold? Failing to see that there are weighty arguments for alternative views is a serious form of moral blindness.
