JOB DESCRIPTION Location: HCMC, Vietnam Department: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research Report to: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research, Millennia University POSITION OVERVIEW The Director, Foundation & Preparatory Programs at Millennia Education provides strategic, academic and operational leadership for all university foundations, pathway and preparatory programs. The role ensures that students who do not meet direct entry requirements, either English Language or academic are provided with high-quality, student centred engaging learning experience with clear progression into their chosen degree studies. The role also requires that students are integrated into the campus community and develop a strong sense of belonging to the university. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a mult-year strategy for foundation and pathway programs aligned to the universities’ vision Identify opportunities for growth, diversification and partnership development including articulation agreements and school partnerships Champion student centred and accessible practices across all programs Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence with staff and students Program Delivery and Innovation Promote evidence-based, student centred pedagogy, including digital learning, inclusive teaching practices and active learning Lead the design of core language and introductory academic skills programs that are cross-disciplinary Provide high level advice on the identification and development of courses to be included in the Millennia Advantage Program of career and life skills Student Experience and Success Ensure strong student support mechanisms, including orientation, academic advising, early alert systems and transition to degree programs Collaborate with other portfolios to integrate pathway students into the wider campus community Monitor student progression and success data and implement interventions to improve student outcomes and retention Provide high level advice on the design of formal and informal learning spaces for foundation and pathway programs Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Faculties to ensure clear and coherent progression pathways into students chosen degree programs Work with admission, marketing and recruitment to communicate program value proposition and entry criteria Engage with external stakeholders including schools, pathway partners, government agencies and professional bodies REQUIREMENTS Qualification and Experience Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field Relevant teaching qualification Demonstrated experience in foundation and pathway education preferably in a university setting Significant experience in an education leadership role responsible for staff and operations Key skills and Competencies Strong strategic, stakeholder management, relationship building and leadership skills Commitment to access education, inclusion and student success Ability to lead changes, inspire teams and champion innovative and active learning and assessment practices Ability to work effectively in fast paced and complex environments Commitment to professional integrity, academic standards and student well-being Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Establishment of pathway programs to all degree programs Enrollments into pathway programs increase year on year Establishment of an early warning system with interventions to improve student success Student success rates are measured by improved retention rates Child Protection Statement Millennia Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the students in our care and expects all applicants, staff, third party providers, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment. Adjunct instructors work with students to provide them with the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career.Adjunct faculty members may teach one or more courses each semester based on availability and student need. These courses may meet during the day, evening, or online, based on the adjunct faculty's availability, expertise, and program/student need. Responsibilities Teach specific classes in the Economics field in a professional and engaging way that creates an environment where students feel comfortable participating and learning.Review course syllabi and instructional materials to maintain currency and improve the courses offered to students as they seek their chosen degree.Assess student progress regularly and assign grades in a timely manner; measure student potential and achievement in concrete, understandable ways to ultimately help the student progress toward a degree.Maintain appropriate records in an organized, efficient manner for every class taught, and have this information accessible by students.Complete assessments based on university and accreditation requirements.Submit end of semester course grades to the University by the published deadlines.Communicate regularly and frequently and respond promptly to questions and concerns from students and department chair. Required Qualifications An earned graduate degree from an accredited university in Economics or another field closely connected to Economics to teach at the undergraduate level. A sufficient combination of experience, certifications, and education may also be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.A terminal degree from an accredited university in Economics or another field closely connected to Economics to teach at the graduate level. Professional experience in teaching area within the last 5 years.Flexible schedule, demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrated ability to adapt to new technology.
