Our research and teaching focus on public international law and international economic law. You will be involved in research, teaching, and administrative tasks. Research Fellow in Cyanobacterial Nutrient Uptake & Metabolism

Salary Package: $112,550 (LEVEL A.6) p.a. plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading -Appointment Type: Full-time, 2 years fixed term Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde) Join a multi-disciplinary team aiming to systematically investigate nutrient uptake and metabolism in a fast growing cyanobacterium. Nutrient uptake pathways in cyanobacteria are poorly understood, yet they are critical for understanding ocean carbon cycling and for harnessing cyanobacteria in biomanufacturing. The Macquarie University, School of Natural Sciences, is currently seeking a suitably qualified Research Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team working to decode cyanobacterial nutrient uptake systems in collaboration with the University of Queensland, the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. This work, supported by an ARC Discovery Project, integrates protein biochemistry, physiological characterisation, cyanobacterial genetic engineering, high throughput functional genomics, transcriptomics and stable isotope resolved metabolomics. The successful applicant will work with Distinguished Professor Ian Paulsen, Professor Esteban Marcellin, Dr Bhumika Shah and Dr Alescia Cullen to: Construct a cyanobacterial deletion mutant library of nutrient uptake genes using biofoundry automation Compare the growth and physiology of wildtype strains and mutants Utilise functional genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics to resolve metabolic pathways and regulatory networks Provide day to day support to HDR students and collaborate closely with chief investigators to ensure the timely delivery of the project milestones Initiate and maintain academic and industry collaborations, and apply for research funding Communicate research findings in scientific journals and at conferences About You You will have completed a PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, synthetic biology, systems biology or a closely related discipline. We are seeking an outstanding Research Fellow to join an ambitious translational oncology programme focused on improving precision treatment approaches for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. This funded programme brings together laboratory scientists, clinicians, and molecular researchers to develop clinically relevant approaches for understanding therapeutic response and resistance in cancer. The post offers a rare opportunity to contribute to a highly translational initiative operating at the interface of discovery science and patient care. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping experimental strategy, generating clinically relevant biological insights, and supporting the progression of the programme towards future clinical application. This is not a conventional postdoctoral role centred on a predefined set of experiments. It is an opportunity to contribute to the development of an evolving translational research platform with clear real-world relevance. Co-Curricular Programs Coordinator (Residential Life) Full time, Continuing position $107, 312 Base + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University is seeking for a Co-curricular Programs Coordinator for the Residential Life Program to support the design, coordination and delivery of inclusive, high-quality co-curricular programs that enhance the student experience for students living in residential accommodation. The role is a combination of events management, project coordination and logistical support contributing to a consistently excellent student experience in University-owned accommodation sites. The Program Coordinator will play a key operational role in delivering and enhancing the coveted Residential Life Intramural Championship Program, which engages over 3,000 students across 14 residences. Working collaboratively with the Senior Co curricular Programs Coordinator (Residential Life), the Program Coordinator will take responsibility for the day to day coordination of arts and social sport activities, including scheduling, logistics, event delivery, and on the ground program operations.
