Your personal sphere of influence: As a University Assistant (Praedoc), you will work at the Institute of European Ethnology, which is very well- connected with universities and cultural institutions in Austria and internationally. You will collaborate with colleagues engaged in a wide range of research and academic teaching, contributing to a vibrant environment of research groups focusing on ethnography, materiality, urban/spatial studies, and multimodal/audiovisual research established at the institute. The topic of the dissertation should fall within the fields of ethnographic representation research, praxeological media research, methodologies of the anthropology of knowledge. The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non- extension declaration. The Student Recruitment Event Team deliver all the virtual and in person events for prospective students to the University of Southampton. We are recruiting an administrator to coordinate student ambassadors to work in roles across our events. The role will advertise work opportunities, create ambassador rotas, deliver appropriate training and work with colleagues in the wider Event Team as well as academic staff and other professional services staff. The ability to work with Excel, Outlook and MS Teams as well as learn other systems such as virtual event platforms and CRM will enable you to succeed in the role. Good organising and timekeeping to administrate the multiple events through the cycle needs to be demonstrated, an understanding of Higher Education would be helpful but not essential and a willingness to support the delivery of in person and virtual events. We are looking for an individual who is committed to support the training and recruitment of ambassadors to enable them to represent the university and develop their skills in communication, presenting and customer service.
