The Opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Relations to work on the ARC project “Humane Exclusion: How States Justify Excluding Refugees.” The project examines the long history of humane-sounding arguments that Western states and other actors have used to justify controlling the mobility of Indigenous people, enslaved people, minorities, displaced people, and marginalized others. It pays particular attention to how these arguments have often relied on appeals to certain understandings of theology, race, gender, climate, and disease. Reporting to Professor Luke Glanville, the successful candidate will undertake original research on one or more of the project’s themes. The successful candidate will be expected to produce high-quality scholarly publications, contribute to project workshops, assist Professor Glanville in the management of the research project, and contribute to teaching in the Department of International Relations. Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (or have submitted their thesis) in International Relations, History, or a related field. They will demonstrate strong research expertise relevant to the project. A developing publication record, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team are essential. Job Description SCHOOL OF BUSINESS DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, MARKETING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS Senior Lecturer / Lecturer I (25260537) The Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems invites applications for a position at the Lecturer I or Senior Lecturer rank in the Management team. We are seeking candidates with substantial applied organizational / industry research experience and teaching experience at a higher education or professional level. The ability to teach management and talent development-related courses and transdisciplinary courses would be an advantage. Candidates should have a doctoral degree from a reputable university and advanced training in data analytics. The position will be located at the Kowloon Tong campus, and will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and conducting research and consultancy services for the Centre of Human Resources Strategy and Development (CHRSD). An initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of 2 years.
