The UK Illicit Project is an NIHR funded 14-month pilot RCT of The Illicit Project-UK a school-based universal drug prevention and harm reduction intervention for older adolescents. The research follows on from an earlier feasibility study funded under the government's Innovation Fund to Reduce Demand for Illicit Substances.  It is a collaboration between Liverpool John Moores University, Stirling University, the Matilda Centre at the University of Sydney, the University of Liverpool, and Queens University, Belfast. Work includes contributing to pilot RCT of an effective Australian intervention for delivery in the UK in collaboration with young people and educational professionals; recruiting schools and liaising with school staff; and undertaking surveys and qualitative work with intervention recipients. You will have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline, experience of working with young people on research trials or substance use research and a good understanding of the challenges of working in a school environment. About us  The Department of Defence Studies is part of the School of Security Studies within the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy at King’s College London. Our campus is outside London, located within the Defence Academy of the UK, Shrivenham, Wiltshire About the role  The Department of Defence Studies seeks to recruit two Lecturers in Defence Studies Education on the King’s Academic Education Pathway to contribute to the Department’s teaching and research capacity in defence studies. Both are Fixed Term Contracts, one for one year and one for two years.  We welcome applications from a broad range of expertise within the field of Security Studies. Any specific research focus may be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with subject matter expertise in the following areas: professional military and security education; disruptive technology and AI; Russian strategy and doctrine; military operations and wargaming; military history; nuclear strategy; applied military ethics.  The successful applicants will be based in the Defence Studies Department at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Shrivenham and will undertake high-quality scholarship and support a range of professional military and security education courses at the postgraduate level.
