LIU Post is a liberal arts institution based in Nassau County, New York, as part of the Long Island University education system. The university is named for C.W. Post, the breakfast cereal pioneer whose daughter Marjorie sold the land to LIU on which Post was founded in 1954. LIU Post is one of the main campuses of the private Long Island University system. All of the campuses within the Long Island University system rank as one unified institution in the THE/WSJ US Rankings.
The campus is a 307 acre facility based at Brookville, located on Long Island’s famous Gold Coast and one of the wealthiest villages in the United States. There are eight campus resident halls at Post, offering affordable housing rates, semi-private suites and quiet study areas.
Academic courses at Post are offered at the colleges of education, information and technology and liberal arts and sciences, as well as eight separate schools. The school of professional accountancy was founded in 1974, and was the first of its kind in the United States.
The Tilles Centre for the Performing Arts at Post is considered a premiere concert hall in Long Island, hosting over 70 performances by outstanding figures in the world of music and theatre each season. Students at the School of Visual and Performing Arts will also use the facilities at the centre while interacting with some of the best performers in their field.
Post athletics teams are known as the Pioneers, and compete in the university colours of green and gold. Six men’s teams and nine women’s teams compete in the NCAA Division II, as well as club teams of Crew, Equestrian and Ice Hockey.
Alumni of Post include actress Dina Meyer, actor John Leguizamo, CEO of Yahoo! Terry Semel, and businessman Ray Dalio. The motto of the university translates as "an honest heart is a kingdom in itself".
