The University of Melbourne invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the 2026 Early Career Researcher Fellowships, with appointments commencing in 2027. This annual round encompasses three competitive schemes: the McKenzie, Mary Lugton, and Puzey Postdoctoral Fellowships. ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP SCHEMES McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellowships The McKenzie scheme supports outstanding early-career researchers and offers up to sixteen fellowships per year, with at least two reserved for Indigenous researchers. Mary Lugton Postdoctoral Fellowships This year, the scheme supports outstanding early‑career researchers specifically in the fields of Science and Engineering, enabling them to build research momentum and establish the foundations for long‑term academic careers. Puzey Postdoctoral Fellowships In 2026, this scheme supports Australian early‑career researchers who aspire to pursue research careers within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT). FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS Three-year full-time appointment at Level A.6 plus superannuation Up to $25,000 in project funding Access to mentoring and ECR development programs Commencement between 4 January and 30 June 2027 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS General Eligibility Applicants must have completed all PhD requirements in a discipline relevant to their application from a university in any country, including Australia and the University of Melbourne no later than 7 May 2026. PhD requirements must be completed by the EOI no earlier than 1 April 2023. Current UoM academic staff may apply if casual, fixed-term, or CRC. An EOI will not be accepted if applicants have not met the PhD requirements by the EOI closing date. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST for a fixed-term appointment from 11 May, 2026 to 31 March, 2027, or as agreed. We seek an information systems specialist to join the ReliaCode project at the University of Helsinki. Our aim is to make LLMs usable in organisational settings with high reliability requirements, especially for reasoning about complex document collections. We’re building methods to make it easier to tell when LLM outputs can’t be trusted, and to improve systems efficiently from limited human feedback. The work is part of an early-stage initiative based in a university environment, with secured funding and a strong focus on real-world impact through pilot collaborations with organizations. The goal is to iteratively develop a product that could evolve either into a general-purpose platform for unstructured data processing or a focused solution in a specific domain. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research and product, and to help shape the technical direction of a potential startup from the ground up. We are offering a year-long full-time contract with the possibility of continuing afterwards in a potential spin-out company. We are particularly looking for candidates with: Strong Python and software engineering skills Hands-on experience using LLMs in applications, especially with multiple model calls and high reliability requirements Experience evaluating LLM systems, including designing benchmarks and using evaluation signals to identify failures and improve system performance Familiarity with practical ML approaches for ranking or classification with noisy or limited signals Comfort working independently in an early-stage project and taking ownership of open-ended problems The following are seen as advanteges but not necessary: Experience working with unstructured data sources (e.g. documents, long-form text) Familiarity with machine learning or NLP, particularly in areas such as information extraction or human-in-the-loop systems Some experience building and maintaining applications used by others  Familiarity with standard software engineering practices (e.g. version control, code review, testing, iterative development) What we offer The University of Helsinki is an equal opportunity employer and offers an attractive and diverse workplace with a variety of development opportunities and benefits. The role is responsible for identifying high-value collaboration opportunities, shaping business models for applied AI projects, and securing funding or co-development commitments that contribute to SNAIC’s long-term sustainability. Working at the intersection of technology and business, this role acts as SNAIC’s front-facing dealmaker, translating market demand, ecosystem signals, and AI innovation into viable partnerships across areas such as Generative AI, Large Language Models, Computer Vision, Digital Twins, and Multimodal AI. Success in this role requires strong commercial instincts, the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders, and the discipline to drive opportunities from early exploration through signed agreements and delivery. Key Responsibilities  1. Industry Engagement & Business Development Identify, qualify, and engage potential industry, government, and ecosystem partners for applied AI collaboration opportunities. Drive the deal process from initial discussion through to agreement. Manage active partnership accounts and track delivery milestones to ensure commitments, timelines, and outputs are met. 2. Marketing, Outreach & Positioning Contribute to industry events, workshops, showcases, and demos that strengthen SNAIC’s visibility and lead generation. Support development of partnership assets such as case studies, pitch decks, project proposals, and success stories. Ensure data accuracy and traceability across all stages of the partnership lifecycle. Job Requirement  Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/AI, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in business development, partnerships, innovation projects, or roles involving both technical and commercial stakeholders. Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ideally in a cross-functional environment. Working understanding of AI concepts, use cases, and industry trends, with interest in areas such as Generative AI, LLMs, Computer Vision, or Digital Twins. Exposure to NVIDIA’s AI ecosystem (e.g., Omniverse, CUDA, DGX, NGC) is a plus, but not required. Strong communication and relationship management skills, able to engage industry partners and internal stakeholders confidently. Good writing and presentation abilities for proposals, pitch decks, and briefing materials. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple partnership pipelines, timelines, and reporting needs. Comfortable using CRM tools, dashboards, or project tracking systems. Key Competencies Understanding of AI and emerging technologies.
