Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) was initially established as Chung Yuan Christian College of Science and Engineering in 1955 by a group of Christian Taiwanese and American educators looking to train emerging engineering and science talent. The school's founding motto was "education through honest, diligent pursuit and practical experience", and it was upgraded to a full university and renamed Chung Yuan Christian University in 1980. It has seven faculties with a particular focus on science, engineering, business, design and law. In its mission statement, CYCU states that it is "founded on the spirit of Christian love for the world. With faith, hope, and love, we endeavor to promote higher education for the benefit of the Chinese people, aiming at the pursuit and advancement of genuine knowledge in order to maintain our cultural heritage and, thus, to serve humankind". The institution's Office of International and Cross-Strait Education was set up by the university to engage in a variety of international affairs. It promotes exchanges of students with sister universities across the world, and provides services for international students preparing to study at CYCU. Notable alumni of the private university include Chang Fan, a former deputy minister of finance in Taiwan; Hwang Jung-chiou, chairman of Taiwan Power Company and former vice-minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Deng Feng-zhou, a poet, historian, and environmentalist. The university's campus is located in the Zhongli District of Taoyuan City, Northern Taiwan. It has a humid subtropical climate, with mild to warm winters and hot summers.

Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF CHINESE, HISTORY, RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY Lecturer I / Lecturer II in General Education and BA/MA Programmes (25260535) The Faculty invite applications for up to two Lecturer I/II posts to teach in the University-wide General Education (GE) curriculum and contribute to BA/MA programmes in Digital Futures & Humanities, History, Religion, Philosophy & Ethics, and Ethics & Public Affairs. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Digital humanities; community-engaged/field-based learning; cross-disciplinary digital methods Modern China and Hong Kong history, ideally with a global China perspective Modern and contemporary China (e.g., China in the Imperial Age; Contemporary China and Globalisation; Sino-Russian Relations; Hong Kong between Past and Present; Global China in the Modern Age) Religious studies related to Islamic, Daoist, or Buddhist traditions History of world religions and/or history of ideas Ethics and public affairs GE courses such as Ideologies, Worldviews and Modern History; Happiness: East and West; Ethical Issues in the Contemporary World Responsibilities: Teach GE and major undergraduate and/or master level courses in one or more of the programmes in Faculty and Academy; Manage and coordinate core courses; Develop new courses with field-based, community-partnered, or short-term overseas elements; Student supervision; Manage and support student internship; and Perform other duties as assigned by the Academy Director or the respective Programme Directors. Requirements: At least a PhD in a relevant discipline; Some tertiary-level teaching experience; Proficiency in English as the medium of instruction; and Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two years, commencing in late August 2026. Reappointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Robotics is reshaping the future of engineering — and mechanical engineering is at the heart of this transformation. In particular, the rapid growth of soft and intelligent robotics research is opening exciting new opportunities for innovation, impact, and real-world solutions. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes within one of the region’s most highly ranked engineering schools. Our research mainly focuses on Burden of Disease estimation in Taiwan, as well as the long-term health impacts of lifestyle and environmental exposures. Using disease burden metrics as an integrated analytical framework, we apply comparative risk assessment, disease modeling, machine learning, and survival extrapolation methods to systematically quantify the long-term impacts of diverse health risks on population health and societal burden. Our goal is to strengthen the evidence base for health policy planning and evaluation. In recent years, the laboratory has led multiple externally funded research projects supported by national funding agencies, including the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA), and the Health Promotion Administration (HPA). Key Responsibilities Conduct research projects funded by the NSTC and assist with additional assigned academic and administrative tasks. The laboratory maintains long-standing collaborations with the Taiwan Burden of Disease Center, the Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at National Taiwan University (NTU), and the Institute of Statistical Science at Academia Sinica. The successful candidate will have opportunities to engage in cross-institutional research projects and participate in interdisciplinary academic discussions with collaborating scholars.   Working Hours Monday to Friday, standard 9-hour shift (including a 1-hour lunch break). Qualifications Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related medical/pharmaceutical fields. Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, STATA, or Python. Experience analyzing large-scale databases (e.g., NHIRD, Biobank) is highly preferred. Strong interest and commitment to medical and public health research. Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work effectively in a team environment.   Salary and Benefits This postdoctoral research fellowship will be funded by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).
