The Department of History of State and Law is a unit of the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University that carries out educational and scientific research activities in the field of legal history and Roman law. In terms of teaching, it primarily delivers compulsory courses in Modern Czech and Czechoslovak Legal History, General Legal History and Roman Law, as well as compulsory elective courses in these fields. In the field of scientific research, the department focuses primarily on the issues of modern Czech legal history in its entirety, specifically the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and the period of socialism and the functioning of law under totalitarian regimes, as well as the history of legal science. The department’s research also includes studies in the field of Roman law and its institutions, including their legacy and influence on subsequent legal developments and contemporary law. Your duties will include: teaching on courses primarily focused on Roman law within accredited degree programmes and lifelong learning programmes, including the preparation of teaching materials, research activities, including publishing and applied research, making a significant contribution to project work and contract research, contributing to the organisational and administrative aspects of research and teaching activities. We require: a completed Master’s degree from a law faculty, specialising in Law, a Ph.D. (for the position of Assistant Lecturer), the ability to teach and publish in the Czech language, a genuine interest in the field of Roman law, information regarding concurrent employment within the meaning of Section 70 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended, the ability to teach independently in the field of Roman law in both Czech and English, ideally with experience of teaching at university level, the ability to conduct independent research in the field of Roman law in Czech and English, ideally demonstrated by relevant academic publications or participation in research projects, good character. It includes outpatient and inpatient services, and also provides services in the field of psychological care. The clinic also focuses on the prevention of mental disorders and provides care for adult patients and children from three years of age. The priority of the workplace is not only the treatment of chronic mental illnesses, but rather focuses on acute psychiatric-psychological care. The clinic is also a methodological center for the fields of psychiatry and clinical psychology in the Brno region. The Department Head position candidate must be a respected expert in the field of psychiatry, with experience of working in a given area and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education.
