Alagappa University was originally founded by Alagappa Chettiar in 1947 as Alagappa Arts College. In 1985 the college was granted full university status by the Tamil Nadu government and became Alagappa University. The university is located in Karaikudi, a municipal town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The university is organised into four academic faculties: the faculty of arts, faculty of science, faculty of management, and the faculty of education. Each faculty is subdivided into different schools, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. Students are given the opportunity to study abroad as part of the university’s study exchange programmes. The university has developed 41 international exchange programmes with higher education institutions around the world in countries including Australia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea. The University Science Instrumentation Centre was established to advance the quality of research in basic and applied fields of science.

Your personal sphere of influence: Your future place is at the Department of Political Science in the research area of Political Theory. The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. It is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas. In the research area of Political Theory, we aim to represent the spectrum of political theory in both research and teaching. Our particular focus is on (radical) democratic theories as well as approaches of hegemony theory, poststructuralism, and critical theory. Another important area of work is the history of political ideas, ideologies, and concepts. We view political theory as a dynamic field of debates that sharpens our understanding of social and political challenges. As a University assistant predoctoral, you will complement the research team in the research area of Political Theory. The team currently consists of eight postdocs, predocs, and administrative colleagues. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration in the research area of Political Theory (Univ. This includes supporting charter award applications and related processes, including Athena SWAN, Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index and other equality frameworks, through evidence gathering, action tracking, project documentation and routine progress monitoring. The role will also signpost colleagues to agreed guidance, resources and processes, and escalating complex, sensitive or strategic matters to senior OIE colleagues as appropriate. Research Fellow to join the Big Data in Health Group About us The Big Data in Health group at the University of Southampton is based in the Primary Care Research Centre. We aim to understand patterns, trends, and associations of diseases to inform preventive action in the UK and international contexts. Our group comprises a diverse, multidisciplinary team conducting high-quality, innovative research that addresses complex health and social care challenges of the 21st century. We employ traditional statistical and epidemiological methods, cutting-edge artificial intelligence algorithms, and qualitative research to provide a deeper understanding, insights, and applications.  About the role  In this role, you will join a successful interdisciplinary and mixed-methods team with extensive qualitative and quantitative expertise that conducts research to support people with multiple long-term conditions. The post holder will already be working in the field of multimorbidity. They will have good organisational and administrative skills. They will have excellent writing skills and be able to work independently to draft high-quality academic research papers and convey methodological results of findings through presentations using interactive visualisations.. This position is a unique opportunity to join an experienced, fast-paced and high-output research group, working closely with our supportive team to help deliver School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded projects in populations with multiple long-term conditions. The post is offered full-time for 6 months and will be available starting in June/July. The salary for this position will be level 4.
