Situated in Southern Turkey, about 35km from the Mediterranean Sea, Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University specialises in engineering and natural sciences.

Despite this specialisation, its seven faculties run the full academic spectrum: computer and informatics; engineering; business; aeronautics and astronautics; design and architecture; humanities and social sciences; and political sciences. There is also a vocational school of information technologies.

The campus includes a football field, an archery range, table-tennis tables and bicycle paths. Student clubs include theatre and music societies, an archery club, a chess club, an animal lovers’ society and an aviation society.

There are also student societies catering for niche interests, such as the defence industry and technologies student community and the financial technologies and capital markets student community.

Description The Division of Engineering (Civil and Urban Engineering) in New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on research centering around infrastructure systems and the environment under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Bin Thaneya. The post-doctoral associate will lead collaborative efforts in advancing research focusing on the intersection of infrastructure, climate, and human health. Examples of current active projects include: Developing optimization models to analyze and mitigate fine particulate matter (PM2.5) exposure from various infrastructure systems (e.g., transportation networks, manufacturing systems, and truck routing). Assessing the relevance of the intake fraction (i.e., exposure efficiency) of major emission sources as a critical metric for infrastructure design, management, and policymaking. Investigating the residual sources of PM2.5 exposure from transportation systems following electric vehicle (EV) adoption, including exposure due to emissions from electricity generation for charging EVs, buses, trucks, rail, pavement resurfacing, tire and brake wear, and supply chain effects. Conducting life-cycle uncertainty assessments of building materials, carbon sinks (e.g., carbon dioxide removal options), and alternative low-carbon fuel sources. Candidates should demonstrate a strong theoretical background and proficiency in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure systems modeling, emissions inventory development, air quality modeling (chemical transport models and/or reduced-complexity models), exposure assessment of airborne pollutants, and life-cycle assessment. The post-doctoral associate will be expected to lead research efforts and contribute to publications in reputable academic journals. The position is located in the area of Disability and Community Inclusion within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
