Canada is becoming one of the most popular destinations for international students – and for good reason.

The easier application processes, welcoming atmosphere, reasonable tuition fees and opportunities for permanent residency are just some of the reasons why many international students choose to study in Canada.

In a webinar hosted by Times Higher Education, Applyboard and HSBC, a panel of experts came together to answer young people’s questions about studying in Canada.

The resounding message throughout the webinar was that Canada is an open and welcoming society and that international students will quickly feel right at home there.

Meti Basiri, the co-founder of Applyboard, shared his personal journey of leaving Iran to study in Canada and how he eventually settled in the country. It was this journey that inspired him and his brothers to start Applyboard, which helps international students along the application process in Canada.

Sandip Chaudhury, Head of International, Wealth and Personal Banking, Canada, HSBC shared some insights into the practicalities of moving abroad – from opening bank accounts and applying for visas to building up a credit history.
