Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, is home to University Center of the Federal District, a private for-profit university that was founded in 1967. Brasilia, a planned city, is a Unesco World Heritage Site in recognition of its unique urban planning and modernist architecture, designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
Since its birth, University Center of the Federal District has regularly expanded, launching new courses to meet the demands of changing society. It now offers almost 40 undergraduate programmes and two postgraduate courses (law and psychology). The university has three campuses: two in Brasilia and one on the city’s outskirts.
About 17,000 students are enrolled at the institution, which offers in-person, distance and hybrid learning options.
The university’s main academic divisions are: administration, business and services; applied social sciences; communications; law; engineering; health; and information technology.
Among the courses taught across the facilities are: administration; architecture and urban planning; international relations; education; literature; journalism; advertising; marketing – digital and data science; law; civil engineering; computer engineering; electrical engineering; systems analysis and development; computer science; data science and machine learning; and cybersecurity.
The health courses cover biomedicine, nursing, physical education, physiotherapy, medicine, veterinary medicine, nutrition, psychology and more.
