Description The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to develop calix[n]arene-based covalent organic frameworks for water purification, under the supervision of Professor Ali Trabolsi, Professor of Chemistry and co-PI at the Water Research Center. The successful candidate will develop new calix[n]arene-based covalent organic frameworks for water purification applications. To explore this area of macrocycle-based porous frameworks for water contaminant removal, the candidate will be involved in the directed synthesis of organic macrocycle containing linkers and porous frameworks and then investigate the supramolecular interactions with various organic pollutants. This would require knowledge in the design and synthesis of porous frameworks, particularly in techniques such as Schlenk line, glove box, powder X-ray diffraction, electron diffraction, electron microscopy, and porosity analysis. The candidate is expected to have a thorough understanding of the analytical techniques used to characterize the materials. Experience in the application of such materials to water treatment is preferred. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry or materials science. Excellent experimental and synthetic skills relevant to the project (particularly, synthesis of covalent organic frameworks) are required. This academic post will be working with our Chair of Palliative Care and Child Health, Lorna Fraser and will support an NIHR funded programme Improving Care for children with life-limiting Conditions: developing, adapting, implementing and evaluating interventions (ICICLE). You will contribute to new grant applications and advise on studies to completion and publication, including supervision of research team members. You will also contribute to teaching and provide PhD and MSc supervision. This post will be full-time in the Cicely Saunders Institute and will be a fixed term contract until 30/11/29 in the first instance. Our team is looking for an AI/ML expert with experience in biological microscopy image analysis and a strong interest in applying ML to cancer related challenges. This is a 2-year fixed-term position (starting as soon as possible) within the KUDOS Research-to-Business (R2B) team. The role is part of an innovation-driven project with high commercialization potential and offers the opportunity to contribute to technologies that may evolve into a future startup or spin-out. Our work focuses on developing advanced, data driven solutions to improve understanding, prediction, and treatment response in pediatric cancers, with broader applicability to adult cancers and other diseases. Key responsibilities Design and build AI-based image analysis pipelines for multi-omics prediction tasks. Integrate molecular and imaging data to develop and expand the KUDOS multimodal data library Apply diverse data science and machine learning methodologies, including the development of novel analytical approaches.
