The University of Home Economics, Lahore originally dates back to 1955 when it was established as the College of Home Economics. Its main mission was to educate female students in essential life skills, preparing them for home and family life while also nurturing their creative abilities. In collaboration with Oklahoma University, US, the college developed its curriculum. Within a decade of its founding, the college expanded to include master of science, bachelor, and CT courses, aiming to help women who could excel in various professional fields. In February 2017, the Punjab Assembly passed an Act to elevate the college to a public-sector university. The transformation into a university formally began with the appointment of its first Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Kanwal Ameen, in May 2019. The University of Home Economics offers various faculties to cater to diverse academic interests and career paths. These faculties include the faculty of art and design, faculty of social and behavioural sciences, faculty of science and technology, faculty of history and languages, and the faculty of management sciences. The university has library, a digital resource centre and a scholar's corner to facilitate research and academic pursuits. Students can also access a reading and discussion hall, wellness services, health centre, student counsellor, Kanwal wellness centre, auditorium, seminar hall and a prayer and common room. To support practical learning, the university also offers facilities such as laboratories and computer labs, a lab nursery, a centre for special children and a daycare centre. There are also residencies, sports grounds and a photocopy shop on campus. The university encourages students to take part in extracurricular activities through various societies and clubs. These include the debating and literary society, character-building society, drama, music and festival society, art and cultural heritage society, harmony-building society, sports society, human wellbeing and antinarcotics society, green and clean society, green youth movement club and media club. Graduates from the University of Home Economics have diverse career opportunities, including joining food companies, utility companies, supermarkets and home-equipment manufacturers. Many become freelance entrepreneurs or work in media, advertising, product promotion and testing. Others pursue careers in teaching, community-related activities and credit counselling, where they provide valuable advice on food choices, fashion, activity patterns and healthy lifestyles, contributing to the wellbeing of families and communities.

About the opportunity Collective Excellence 2028 represents a significant evolution in how the University achieves its ambitions-shifting from multiple plans to one aligned strategy, from dispersed effort to targeted action, and from foundational work to measurable impact. Building on substantial groundwork already completed, this role will drive the next phase: embedding collaboration, elevating collective leadership capability, and creating sustainable forums and channels for joint achievement. As the Executive Program Director, Collective Excellence 2028, you will lead one of the University's most significant transformation agendas, spearheading a strategic portfolio of eight major university-wide initiatives designed to elevate education, research, and institutional performance. This senior leadership role will convene and facilitate cross-institutional collaboration, working through complex stakeholder landscapes to drive collective ownership and accountability for the CE28 portfolio. You will design and lead forums for co-creation, build collective leadership capability across faculties and Portfolios, and establish the governance mechanisms that enable-rather than constrain-collaborative achievement. Partnering closely with the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost Office, Education and Students, Research and Community and Leadership portfolios, faculties, University schools and the strategy portfolio you will bring deep expertise in large-scale transformation to guide decision-making and drive consistent, high-quality implementation. With a focus on measurable improvements in teaching quality, research performance, and student outcomes, your leadership will ensure transparent, on-time, on-budget delivery of the Collective Excellence 2028 initiatives alongside key leaders of the individual programs, helping shape the future of the University. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields from a recognized University. Major in Information Security will be advantageous. Professional or industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA), Juniper (JNCIA), Huawei (HCNA), Aruba (ACA), or equivalent will be an added advantage. Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of industry experience as a software engineer or network engineer with strong technical expertise and hands-on experience. Proficiency in software development principles, including Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, API integration, and full software development lifecycles. Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Java (preferred but not limited to). Hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including LAN/WAN design and operations with protocols and technologies such as VLAN, OSPF, ACL, VRF lite, VRRP, VPN, and link aggregation. Familiarity with software for networking devices/functions (routers, switches, firewalls) or network automation / SDN. Understanding of software repository management and/or change management processes for network/software version control. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  Job Details This Research Fellow will contribute to the UrEco 2030+ project: “Optimizing Urban Ecosystem Services Model for Urban Climate and Biodiversity in Singapore towards 2030 and Beyond.” This position requires experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related fields, with added expertise in ecosystem services assessment, ecological engineering, social sciences, policy making, environmental science, and/or urban environmental issues at the policy–academic interface. This position is ideal for an early- or mid-career researcher with experience in GIS or remote sensing who seeks to apply and expand their expertise in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will work with leading researchers and contribute to cutting-edge research and policy dialogues at the intersection of blue–green infrastructure, tropical urban ecosystem services, and urban resilience (covering themes such as urban flooding, thermal cooling, recreation, and biodiversity). The work includes Local Climate Zone (LCZ) classification and collaboration with Japanese university partners for integrated macro- to micro-scale analysis. As part of understanding the ecosystem services that are involved in Singapore, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform some field-based data collection during the duration of the project. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.  Identify, simulate, and analyse ecosystem service models using GIS, remote sensing, and field data. Manage, process, and analyse ecological and socio-economic datasets to develop and calibrate high-accuracy ecosystem service models. Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings into conceptual frameworks and research designs. Support cross–work package integration, particularly in developing tools for blue–green infrastructure policy and decision-making. Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and visualization. Draft and edit research reports, policy briefs, and academic manuscripts. Contribute to project management, workshop organization, and stakeholder or policy dialogues. Be involved in regular field work data collection and to perform environmental and biodiversity surveys (fish, birds and insects) as part of a research team.  To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related disciplines. Strong working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis techniques. Training or demonstrated experience in remote sensing, spatial data collection, and thematic mapping. Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS, Primer, Python). Experience with analytical techniques such as ANOVA, PCA, Regression, and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). Experience in ecosystem service identification and analysis is highly advantageous. Excellent data management, research design, and reporting skills. Strong communication and presentation skills in English. Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Additional Note: While prior experience in ecosystem service modelling and simulation is not mandatory, it will be considered a strong advantage. Candidates with a solid GIS or remote sensing background who demonstrate interest in applying their skills to ecosystem service assessment are encouraged to apply.
