Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms, subject to University’s approval.  Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medicine, Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, Health Science, or a related discipline, with proven experience in clinical research and research project management. They should have (i) a strong record of high-quality research as indicated by impactful publications and external grants, (ii) evidence of international recognition, (iii) cross-disciplinary collaborative ties locally and internationally, and (iv) an outstanding record of teaching, mentoring and supervising research postgraduate students.     The appointees are expected to participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervise research staff and research postgraduate students, conduct high-quality scholarly research, and contribute to services/administration at the Department and Faculty levels. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. MAIN JOB CONTENT  Planning, conducting, and evaluating user research focused on courses, learning modules, interfaces, interactions, and educational scenarios. This interdisciplinary project, spanning from February 2024 to January 2027, delves into the emotional expressions of grievance politics and implications for democratic governance and political mobilization. Led by Dr. Tereza Capelos, Professor in Political Psychology at PAIR, the Southampton team is at the forefront of groundbreaking research aimed at understanding the emotional dynamics shaping contemporary political landscapes. Possess expertise in the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments and the ability to analyse survey and interview data using STATA, SPSS, R,Nvivoand other quantitative and qualitative data analysis packages. Exhibit project management and data management skills, preferably in the context of quantitative projects. Show active engagement with the field of political psychology through participation in conferences, workshops, and other knowledge exchange events. Reporting to the Associate Director, Safety, Health and Environment, you will provide an advisory and monitoring service on the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant successor fire safety legislation or standards, to ensure a coordinated strategic approach to the management of fire safety risk, the achievement of a positive culture and high standards of fire safety performance. Within this collaborative, cross-discipline team, you will undertake the functions of a ‘competent person’; conduct and review fire risk assessments; review building fire strategies; conduct DSEAR Risk Assessments; and review the university’s Fire Risk Management Plan and relevant Policy documents. In addition, you will carry out fire safety audits and inspections of university buildings; deliver fire safety training; devise emergency plans for university buildings; communicate and implement annual fire drill programmes; advise on fire risk management to Faculties and Professional Services; and liaise with our Estate Development Department concerning building alterations, passive fire detection and firefighting equipment. Key to success in this role will be a consultative and facilitative style of service delivery, with resilience to ensure that failings are challenged and resolved, with the ability to build internal and external relationships, based on trust and confidence, to engender a co-operative and collaborative environment. You will be a graduate, or have relevant experience, with membership of a relevant professional organisation and qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety, or IFE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Science or Fire Safety, or CFPA Level 4 Diploma, or other recognised professional qualification. You will also be on a nationally recognised Fire Risk Assessors register.
