Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, formerly the Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, is an engineering and research oriented university in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, Established in 1960, the institute is one of 30 National Institutes of Technology in the country. There are three departments: architecture and planning, basic science and engineering. Across these departments, students can choose from a variety of courses from computer science to physics to English among others. Students are offered courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. Students have access to a range of campus facilities, including an auditorium, gymnasium, community shops, clubs and library, as well as facilities for sports including tennis, football, hockey and badminton. The institute encourages and supports entrepreneurial students, offering the E-cell, with student intensive, learning-oriented programs to help with start-ups and product design. There is also the Consortium, usually a three-day summit, organising keynote speakers, competitions and student meetings. The institute is committed to helping students gain industry placements and employment both during and after their studies, working with both local and multinational companies, including: Goldman Sachs, Lowe’s India and JP Morgan. Nagpur is known as the Orange City, famous for its orange trade and production, as well as being known as the tiger capital of India for having several tiger reserves in the city, and being home to the regional office of the National Tiger Conservation Authority. Students and visitors have a variety of sights and attractions to visit, such as: the Swaminarayan Temple, Pench Tiger Reserve, and Futala Lake.

Applicants should possess: (i) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a related discipline; (ii) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants; (iii) evidence of international recognition; (iv) a strong record of scholarship with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives; and (v) a strong commitment to engaging students in inquiry-based learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  Appointees shall be mapped to relevant departments based on their research disciplines. Depending on the strategic priorities of the hosting departments, they are expected to conduct independent and collaborative scholarly research and attract competitive grants to maintain active research programmes; take part in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and supervise research postgraduate students; and perform administrative duties. The appointment rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Job Description: The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for the position of Assistant professor in vertebrate or macroinvertebrate paleontology. The Moroccan palaeontological heritage is extremely abundant and diversified. Over 800 million years of sedimentation have yielded one of the most complete and fossil-rich sequences on Earth, from evidences of bacterial life in the Anti-Atlas to the rise of the first modern humans in the Jebel Irhoud.UM6P is keen to excel in scientific research that meets the country's needs and makes the best possible use of its natural resources within a framework of sustainable development. In keeping with its ambition to rank among the world's leading universities in fields such as social responsibility and sustainable development, the university has decided to create a Research Center dedicated to Palaeontology, designed for preserving and improving this paleontological heritage and promoting it through exhibitions and scientific research. The Assistant professor in Palaeontology will be part of this growing team, carrying out high-level scientific research in palaeontology, contributing to the management of the fossil collections and teaching at the university.
