About the Role We are seeking a proactive and globally minded Global Work-Based Learning Officer to join the Careers and Student Enterprise team. In this role, you will support students to access international work-based learning opportunities, helping them develop the skills, confidence and cultural awareness required to thrive in global environments. You will build and maintain strong relationships with international employers and partners, promote global opportunities to students, and guide them through the full preparation, application and placement process. You will also coordinate key administrative and compliance processes, monitor placements, and ensure that all activity is delivered safely, inclusively and in line with university and regulatory requirements. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines student support, partnership development and operational coordination. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in areas not currently covered by our academic staff, such as South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Applicants with expertise in digital methods for historical analysis, as well as knowledge and practical skills in using digital applications for research and pedagogy, will be given preference. General Requirements Applicants should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree in history or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. They should have a good track record of publications and grant applications, a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and an interest in taking on service. The incoming Dean will have demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring and promoting exceptional faculty and providing an environment in which they can flourish through meaningful discourse and support for research, scholarship, and teaching, and a record of encouraging and facilitating innovation and collaboration across disciplines.
