Established in 1870, the Stevens Institute of Technology is one of the oldest technological universities in the United States and was the first American college solely dedicated to mechanical engineering. From 1997 until mid-2015, the School of Business was known as the Howe School of Technology Management, in recognition of the generosity of Wesley J Howe, who was a former chairman on the board of trustees. Stevens Institute of Technology’s School of Business offers undergraduate, master’s, MBA and doctoral degrees in entrepreneurship, finance, general management, management information systems, quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research and technology. Its institutional strengths are in analytics, finance, information systems and management, with the aim of providing a forward-thinking business education that prepares managers for the future through an emphasis on technology. The Hanlon Financial Systems Center is the only facility of its kind in the United States and encourages the application of cutting-edge technologies in unique ways to solve complex, systemic financial problems, bringing together researchers with expertise in various fields of finance, analytics and information technology with industry partners and funding agencies. The school is located in Hoboken, New Jersey which is a ten-minute ride from New York City and perfectly placed for students to seek employment opportunities easily. In the last five years, the school has added several technology-intensive academic programs, hired additional research-active faculty members and earned its accreditation from AACSB. Among other achievements, the school’s online MBA programme was ranked first in New Jersey by the US News and World Report and the undergraduate class of 2016 achieved 100 per cent of job offers within six months of graduation.
