The University of Sharjah (UOS), established in 1997, is a private, national, co-educational university situated in University City, Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates. UOS has proven that with proper leadership, a young university can compete with its more senior peers. UOS now includes 14 colleges, offering over 120 diverse academic programs.

A few kilometers from the shores of the Arabian Gulf, the Sharjah university campus houses the main campus together with the Medical and Health sciences campus, and the Fine Arts and Design campus. In addition to a branch in Al Dhaidh City. UOS architecture lends full expression to its Islamic and Arabic heritage, while providing facilities including study halls, laboratories, libraries, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and computing labs, theatres, two major sports complexes, and student centers with restaurants and shops.

We are passionate structural biologists (focused on NMR spectroscopy of nucleic acids) at CEITEC, looking for  Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Non-Coding Genome Research group About this position:  We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team! The research project will focus on developing fluorine NMR methodologies to unravel the nucleic acid conformational landscapes. G-quadruplexes (G4) and i-motifs (iM) are paradigmatic non-canonical nucleic acid structures that are abundant in the human genome and overrepresented in evolutionarily conserved and functionally important regions, including the telomeres, centromeres, and promoter regions of (onco)genes. They have been involved in pathobiological processes and the development of genetic instability-driven conditions, rendering them a fascinating subject within structural biology. This project will integrate ¹⁹F NMR and complementary biophysical assays on G-quadruplex- and i-Motif-forming DNA/RNA sequences to investigate their structural equilibrium, dynamics, and ligand binding interactome in vitro and in the intracellular space. The outcome will provide fundamental insights into the dynamic structural interconversion of non-canonical nucleic acid systems, enabling the fine-tuning of gene expression and associated cellular dysfunctions. We are seeking a creative and independent individual with documented research experience relevant to this position. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and are committed to fair hiring practices. The ideal researcher (EU Researcher Profile: R2) profile: Must-have: A PhD degree or equivalent in structural biology, Chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field. Expertise in biomolecular NMR and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals Experience in the sample preparation, acquisition, processing, and resonance assignment of multidimensional solution NMR spectra for nucleic acid/ protein systems and their complexes with small ligand-like molecules. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fields. Possessing a Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering environment. Have deep, hands-on competence in the following areas: High voltage switching Engineering design, modelling & analysis of conventional power, wind & solar farms Engineering design of transmission & distribution substations, electrical distribution systems of industries and commercial buildings Power system protection application and relay coordination Digital/Analogue/Power electronics IoT/Micro-controller application It will be advantageous with working knowledge of/as: Knowledge in programming/using Python, MATLAB, LTspice, IoT platform. Authorised high voltage switching Engineer Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to SIT Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
