Established as the second university in the country in 1969, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was first known as Universiti Pulau Pinang. In 1971, USM moved from its temporary premises at the Malayan Teachers’ Training College, Bukit Gelugor to the present 416.6 hectare site at Minden, approximately 9.7 km from Georgetown, Pulau Pinang (Penang Island) Malaysia. 

USM offers courses ranging from Natural Sciences, Applied Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences to Building Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education. These are available at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to approximately 34,000 students at its 17 Academic Schools on the main campus in the island of Penang; 6 Schools at the Engineering Campus in Nibong Tebal (approximately 50km from the main campus); and 3 at the Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan (approximately 300km from the main campus). This figure includes more than 3,800 international students of diverse nationalities from 26 countries.  

USM also has 17 dedicated research centres for a wide range of specialisations which include archaeology, medicine and dentistry, molecular medicine, science and technology, Islamic development and management studies, and policy research and international studies. It also provides consultancy, testing, and advisory services to the industry under the ambit of USAINS Holdings Sdn Bhd, the University’s commercial arm. 

Since the beginning, USM has adopted the School system rather than the traditional Faculty system to ensure that its students are multi-disciplined from their exposure to other areas of study by other Schools. It also encourages students to be active in extra-curricular activities given the myriad of clubs and societies available. 

As a Research Intensive University recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) in 2007, USM offers educational and research opportunities to students and staff. In 2008, USM also became the first university in the country to be selected by the Malaysian government to participate in the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX), a fast-track programme that helps tertiary institutions achieve world-class status.

You will play a central role in planning, coordinating, and delivering simulation sessions that are educationally sound, operationally feasible, and provide meaningful learning outcomes for students and staff. The post holder will develop, maintain, and manage centre-specific educational resources, documents, and repositories, including exploring opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and resource tracking. By capturing the educational demand from faculties, you will help inform service planning, centre resource development, and potential research initiatives, contributing to the continuous enhancement of simulation-based education across King’s Health Faculties. The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is pleased to announce the opening of one (1), or possibly two (2), full-time academic positions (Teaching stream) in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. Depending on qualifications and career track expectations, the appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent), and board certification (DACVP and/or Dipl. ECVP) is preferred but board eligible ACVP or ECVP residency-trained candidates will be considered. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta.  Appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor Teaching requires evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness or competency in teaching and learning, an awareness of how to apply scholarly approaches to teaching and learning practices, participation in reflective practice, and professional learning activities related to teaching and learning. Engagement in the research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy is required. Appointment to the rank of Associate Professor Teaching requires evidence of teaching effectiveness, a demonstrated ability to apply scholarly approaches to teaching and learning and student engagement, to design student learning experiences and assessment strategies. Continuous development of innovative teaching and that supports student learning, ability to create respectful and inclusive learning environments is required. Teaching will be a significant component of the expected distribution of effort and will include didactic, clinical and professional identity laboratories, and 4th year (clinical year) rotation teaching in the DVM program. UCVM employs a distributed veterinary teaching hospital model. Clinical duties including student rotation teaching will occur in partner specialty practices and other practice settings. Participation in collaborative student or intern-led clinical research is desired. The remainder of distribution of effort will be divided for university service engagements (such as course or rotation coordination, committee work and/or scholarly activity). UCVM's AVMA accredited DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 50 students per year, with an increased expansion to 100 students this fall 2026 semester.
