This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a comic quest:

"My wife Norma had run off with Guy Dupree and I was waiting for the credit card billings to come in so I could see where they had gone."

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is October 22.
