First Impressions

This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a work written partly to create sympathy for the author's role in a Popish plot against Charles II:

"The first corrupters and seducers of youth, especially if active and sprightly, are the whispers and temptations of pleasure..."
