First Impressions

This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a novel composed of journals and letters:

"How these papers have been placed in sequence will be made manifest in the reading of them."

The winner receives a £25 Blackwell's voucher.

The closing date is February 25.

The winner of last week's competition, who identified Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, is Iain Stevenson, director, publishing services, department of journalism, City University, London.
