First Impressions

This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is taken from a work by a novelist remembered for her writing for children:

"When Mary Lennox was sent to Misselthwaite Manor to live with her uncle everybody said she was the most disagreeable-looking child ever seen."
