This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a work by a philosopher with a Nobel prize in literature: " Is there any knowledge in the world which is so certain that no reasonable man could doubt it? "

The winner receives a £25 Blackwell's book voucher and
the closing date is December 12 .
