This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, comes from a work whose title is taken from the hebrew term for Beelzebub:

" The boy with the fair hair lowered himself down the last few feet of rock and began to pick his way towards the lagoon ."

The winner receives a £20 book token and the closing date is July 20.
