First Impressions competition: March 06 2008

This week’s competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a roman à clef:

"It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York."

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is 12 March 2008.
