This week’s competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a philosopher and meteorologist:

“An octopus?”

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is January 16, 2008.

The winner of last week's competition, who identified History of the Kings of Britain/Book 1 by Geoffrey of Monmouth, is Sandi Galbraith of Wakefield in West Yorkshire.
