First Impressions competition: February 21 2008

February 21, 2008

This week’s competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a classic Christian allegory:

“As I walk'd through the wilderness of this world, I lighted on a certain place, where was a Denn; And I laid me down in that place to sleep: And as I slept I dreamed a Dream.”

Entries, including your postal address, should be sent to First Impressions, Times Higher Education, 26 Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4HQ, faxed to 020 3194 3300 or emailed to chat@timeshighereducation.co.uk

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is February 2008.

The winner of last week’s competition, who identified Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini, is Robert Falconer of Llanishen, Cardiff.
