First Impressions competition: 17 January 2008

This week’s competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a sea-faring voyage of self-discovery:

"Of all the things that drive men to sea, the most common disaster, I've come to learn, is women."

The winner receives a £25 book voucher. The closing date is January 22.

The winner of last week’s competition, who identified Troubled Sleep by Jean-Paul Sartre, is Paul Webster of Redditch in Worcs.
