Final Word

May 5, 1995

This week's Final Word is taken from a work which first appeared under the name of Ellis Bell:

"I lingered round them, under that benign sky; watched the moths fluttering among the heath, and hare-bells; listened to the soft wind breathing through the grass; and wondered how any one could imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quiet earth."

The winner of last week's competition, who correctly identified Antoine de Saint-Exupery's Wind, Sand and Stars , is Paul Melly of Maidstone.
