Daffodil International University is a private higher education institution located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Founded in 2002, Daffodil International is a young institution, but frequently appears at the top of Bangladesh university rankings.
More than 21,000 students are enrolled at Daffodil International, including around 1,200 postgraduates, but at more than 125 acres, its main campus is large enough to accommodate them. Facilities here are plentiful, and include a hostel, shopping mall and even a golf course.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and postdoctoral study across 23 departments, which are organised into five main faculties: science and information technology; business and entrepreneurship; humanities and social science; engineering, and applied health science.
Social and extracurricular clubs range from software engineering to nature studies and sports.
Environmental sustainability is a priority at the university – the university was the first in Bangladesh to sign a “green campus” initiative, promoting research and academic programmes that are eco-friendly and cultivate environmentally responsible behaviour in the community. Such projects include reforestation of local roads, water conservation strategies and use of solar energy on campus.
The university was also the first in the country to sign up to the UN’s Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions.
The ranked within the top 400 universities in the world in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings for 2020, and came in 37th place for the Quality Education Impact Ranking.
