Applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in the areas related to Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or other related fields of study in Social Sciences, with a track record of publications in high quality international journals or other appropriate refereed publications. Knowledge in Chinese media system and global social media environment and governance will be highly desirable. Experience in computational social science, causal inference, machine learning, analysis of unstructured and multimodal data, and/or use of AI in communication studies will have an advantage. Applicants with lesser qualification but with relevant experience might be considered as Senior Research Assistant. The appointee will assist in a General Research Fund (GRF) research project, with duties such as (1) generating research output independently; (2) working with a team of interdisciplinary scholars on collaborative projects and (3) preparing research proposals for competitive grant applications. About the role: The Senior Lecturer, Education-focused Academic will provide leadership of the Field Education team in the role of Academic Lead with oversight of relevant units and course teaching teams in both the UG and PG programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The role will engage in and increasingly develop and lead academic or other collaborations that enable novel and high-quality teaching methodologies in Field Education in the social work discipline. Field Education is a core component of social work education, providing students with supervised, practice based learning in real-world settings and is widely regarded as central to social work training. As a Senior Lecturer in Social Work, Education-focused, you will: Lead unit and course teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the faculty to develop effective unit/courses curricula and learning material (including through course leadership roles). Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements. Integrate industry, clinical and/or research practice into unit/course design to improve student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit and course level and provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Lead moderation of assessment tasks at course level and adapt practices to improve learning outcomes Foster a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the discipline Conduct mentoring of colleagues to help improve their teaching practices Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes. To be successful, you’ll have: PhD in a relevant discipline (for example, social work) and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area. Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership and line management of a Field Education team working with academics and professional staff, including planning workloads, recruiting, training and management of field educators and liaison staff. Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning. Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement. Responsibility for ensuring ongoing compliance with the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS), and the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) Field Education Standards across both the Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) courses.
