Job Purpose:  The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in environmental sustainability, working with internal teams and industry partners to develop practical solutions. The role focuses on translating scientific concepts into scalable solutions that address challenges in meeting environmental sustainability target through resource efficiency, waste management, and other sustainable solutions for various industries. Research engineers will collaborate closely with faculty, professional officers and industry partners to execute commercially viable solutions that address real-world challenges. In the process, research engineers gain valuable applied research capabilities aligned with evolving industry needs. Key Responsibilities: Applied Research & Development Conduct reviews on sustainability literature, frameworks and assessment tools for both generic industry-wide and industry-specific applications, such as life cycle analysis (LCA), environmental impact assessments, energy analysis and resource optimization studies Develop sustainability solution road mapping and development framework to supports identification and follow-through of sustainability solutions for organizational green transition. Support development of sustainability solutions and applications to implement organizational green transition through project execution (experimentation, data collection, analysis and evaluation) including includes but not limited to carbon management, circular economy, renewable energy, and sustainable materials. Industry Collaboration Support collaborations with industry partners to understand problem statements and contribute to solution development Assist in project scoping by gathering technical inputs and identifying relevant capabilities within the ecosystem (IHLs, research centres, industry partners) Participate in industry meetings, discussions, and project engagements Project Execution & Support Assist in planning and executing projects to ensure timely delivery of outcomes Generate technical reports, presentations, and documentation on the development of sustainability solutions and applications Contribute to grant proposals and project submissions where required Track project progress and maintain proper documentation of activities Job Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree with 5+ year experience OR Master’s degree with 2+ year experience in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering with sustainability training, or a related field or related disciplines with relevant experience in research, engineering, product development or sustainability related work. Possess understanding of sustainability concepts (e.g., LCA, carbon foot printing, resource efficiency) Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Resourceful, meticulous and problem-solving attitude. Position overview The School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics (SLLL) is seeking to enhance the successful teaching program and strong research profile of the Centre for Classical Studies through the appointment of an Associate Lecturer. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Ancient Greek and Latin at all levels and an active research agenda in any aspect of the languages and literature of Ancient Greece and Rome (this includes language pedagogy). They will be highly motivated, collegial, and collaborative, and expected to contribute to public engagement and service in the Centre and School. They will receive dedicated career development mentoring, including guidance in applying for research funding.  The Centre for Classical Studies teaches three undergraduate majors – Ancient Greek, Latin, and Classical Studies (in translation) – covering Greek and Roman language, literature, history, art, culture, and society from the Bronze Age to the Early Middle Ages. The Centre houses the ANU Classics Museum, a collection of more than 600 artefacts from the ancient Mediterranean world, with a special focus on objects illustrating daily life.   The Centre is focused on cultivating research strengths in areas that contribute to important areas of scholarly and public debate. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Track record in project leadership and impactful industry experience in Chemical Process Technology. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in unit operations (e.g. Heat Exchanger, Distillation Column, Reactors, Cooling Tower etc). Practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Engineering standards including but not limited to ISO9001, OSHA and BSI etc. Practiced in Chemical Process Design software (for e.g. HYSYS) Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and related methods, with a focus on biopharmaceutical analysis would be an advantage. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
