This senior academic leadership position is responsible for shaping, delivering and enhancing the Faculty’s priorities for teaching, learning and the student experience, in alignment with the University’s Manchester 2035 strategy. The Vice-Dean for TLS will provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing the Faculty’s teaching, learning and student experience priorities. The postholder will champion innovation in curriculum design, assessment, digital education and inclusive teaching, fostering a culture of continuous improvement informed by data, student feedback and external benchmarks. A key focus will be on advancing flexible, personalised and digitally enabled learning, and making partner-enabled learning a signature of every Manchester degree. The role oversees the quality and consistency of the student journey, from recruitment and induction through to graduation and employment, and promotes student engagement, co-creation and the integration of the student voice in decision-making. The Vice-Dean will also drive initiatives to widen participation and promote social mobility, supporting the University’s ambition to deliver a transformative, values-led education for a diverse and global student body. Working collaboratively across the Faculty and University, the Vice-Dean will represent the Faculty internally and externally at the highest level. School of Law and Justice Studies The School of Law and Justice Studies at LJMU has a long tradition of marrying academic excellence and practical legal study. The School has a large suite of LLB, LLM, LPC and SQE programmes. The LLB has been adapted to include elements of preparation towards new routes to qualification under the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination. The Legal Advice Centre in the School has been embedded into the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum to provide valuable experience and skills development for our undergraduate and postgraduate students. The school is the home to the Centre for the Study of Law in Theory and Practice (LTAP). Whilst embracing a wide range of research interests the Centre has particular strengths in Public International Law and Human Rights, European Law, International Criminal Law, Banking Regulation and Finance Law. The school submitted successfully to the REF 2014 and 2021.   As Lecturer in Law or Teaching Fellow in Law, you will be responsible for working with students on our undergraduate and/or postgraduate law programmes. About us The Department of Informatics is looking to appoint a Reader in Computer Vision Education. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to grow our department and realise our vision of a diverse, inclusive and innovative department of Informatics at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. As we continue to grow and strengthen our department, we are seeking to appoint a Reader in the area of computer vision education. We welcome applications from candidates who have an international profile in research in any of the following areas: image classification and object detection, semantic segmentation, video analysis and action recognition, scene understanding, medical image analysis, self-supervised and unsupervised learning for vision, vision-based robotics and autonomous systems, and generative models for image synthesis and enhancement. We would also be interested in applicants who are working in emerging areas in the field, including vision transformers, explainable AI for vision, and privacy-preserving computer vision. We consider computer science challenges from a broad perspective. Members of the department regularly publish in and sit on the program committees of top-tier and well-known venues in computer science and software engineering. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered on an indefinite contract. About the role Make significant contributions to the teaching, examining and project supervision of students in the Department of Informatics. Establish and disseminate innovative teaching practices in the department. Deliver an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, in core computer science and a specialism in computer science or artificial intelligence. Enthusiastically contribute to academic management and support the administration and development of the department to further its education, research activities, and ambitions. Undertake a self-directed programme of scholarship in cybersecurity education at a level commensurate with current international standard. Act as personal tutor to students as agreed with the Head of Department, assist with difficulties, e.g. learning support/problems and be responsible for the pastoral care of students. Contribute fully and conscientiously to administrative tasks in the department. Actively promote and participate in equality, diversity and collegiality. Role to commence no earlier than 1 August 2026 Full time opportunity Fixed Term for up to 3 years Level A Academic Research only Based at La Trobe University’s Melbourne (Bundoora) campus Work with inspiring people who are driven to make a difference About the position EPAS is seeking a Research Officer with expertise in sensory biology, capable of contributing to both field and laboratory components of an Australian Research Council funded project led by Dr Amanda Franklin. The project aims to uncover how animals with miniature brains can efficiently process multisensory stimuli. Using a powerful combination of techniques – high-resolution imaging, intracellular recordings and behavioural experiments – this project aims to uncover how beetles detect and respond to deep-red stimuli and infrared (heat) information. Results will provide new information about evolution and function of sensory systems and have the potential to unlock biological solutions for modern problems, including improved efficiency of sensors and image processing. The Research Officer will lead field expeditions to collect insects, primarily based in the mallee regions of Australia (particularly Western Australia) and forests in North America or Europe. They will have the opportunity to contribute to anatomical (e.g. electron microscopy), physiological (e.g., electrophysiology), and/or behavioural experiments (e.g. field studies, controlled laboratory studies). The Research Officer will join a world-class team and benefit from collaboration and training with leading scientists across multiple institutions, including Dr Patricia Jusuf (University of Melbourne), Prof Gregor Belušič (University of Ljubljana), and Prof Kentaro Arikawa (Graduate University for Advanced Studies, SOKENDAI), with planned research visits to these groups during the project. The role provides variety and flexibility. The successful candidate will be able to develop independent research directions, contribute to supervision of higher degree research students, analyse complex datasets, and lead the preparation of peer-reviewed publications.
